Lisa Burford
I joined TRC in May of 2021 as a volunteer, my duties include the care of the horses, welcoming the students, understanding their needs, helping in classes as a horse leader, side walker, saddling, and assisting the instructor. It has been a wonderful and gratifying experience for me to assist with the daily care of the horses and learn from the instructors how best to assist the students.
I have owned horses in the past, shown Western in trail, pleasure and equitation throughout California. I have a degree in Physical Education from Oregon State University and received my teaching credential from California State University Long Beach. My career was teaching multiple subjects in a private school, grades 3-8. I became a TRC Captain in 2022, which allows me to assist the newer volunteers with the daily routines of classes and help more directly with the horses. My main goals are to assist the instructors, ensuring that all lessons run smoothly, and help new volunteers to become included in the classes and daily endeavors.
As a board member, I will continue to work towards ensuring that the classes get the support they need for success, as well as supporting all events in any manner needed.
